Report - The Los Banos Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of Los Banos, the Henry Miller Wild West Weekend Committee and the fine people of the Los Banos community really went all out for this event. The shooting arena was covered and absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of seating and the competition was tough. We saw several shooters post shots in the 3's with the Ladies posting a few 4's. The Award ceremony was one for the record books. If you weren't there you missed one heck of a production. Just ask someone who was there. The Top-5 Championship Shoot-off format was used to determine the Overall Champions. The finals started at1.00pm with what looked like about 300+ onlookers rooting for their favorite shooters. The 2007 California State Men's Champion Arizona Ranger aka James Barney was on his game. He had several bouts were his shots were only separated by .001 of a second. That's pretty consistent. Miss B. Haven aka Annette Coffman, once again proved why she is a 2 time World Champion. She too was very consistent but let's not take anything away from the remaining top 5 competitors. They all had a great match and yes, the Top Gun Champion was determined for the men. The Top Gun points should be posted soon.

Report - It was a beautiful day in Dayton Nevada as a number of CFDA members traveled from California on what was very short notice. It was a very competitive contest with some World and Nationals Champions shooting their best.
There were only 2 lady shooters so they asked the men if it was O.K. to shoot with them and they both made it to the later rounds of the contest and were placed based on their overall performance. Alotta Lead and Hannah Calder were both shooting in the low .50's and high .40's, with Alotta Lead taking 1st Place Lady.
For the men it was truly some of the fastest shooting in the history of CFDA competition. Quick Cal decided to shoot the standard gun and holster and said he was worried about shooting over the backstop after competing "Shootist Style" for the past year. Shots in the 40's became cheap at the 15' distance. Tennessee a.k.a. Jim Standridge, Omaha Outlaw a.k.a. Gary Wagner, Short Keg a.k.a. Ken Gentry, Sundowner a.ka. George Narasaki, Quick Cal a.k.a. Cal Eilrich, and newcomer to CFDA Trickshot a.k.a. Jon Wilson were shooting some rounds in nothing but .3's. When it came down to the final 3, there was a bye round with Omaha Outlaw, Quick Cal and Trick Shot. Omaha Outlaw didn't connect and Quick Cal shot a .366, but that wasn't good enough since Trickshot nailed a .364. Shooting a .36 and not get the blinking light, that's fast! So Omaha Outlaw and Quick Cal shot it out to see who would be in the finals, Omaha was ahead 2 to 1, then Quick Cal came back with a pair of .363's to send Omaha Outlaw to 3rd Place. Then it came to the finals with Trickshot having 3 X's and Quick Cal only a pair of X's. Trickshot won the first shot with a .359, then shot a .374 and a .366, but those former two shots were bested by Quick Cal with a .351 and a .359 respectively, then Cal fired a .353, but Trickshot answered with a .339, so it was now 2 to 2. Trickshot missed that last shot but Quick Cal brought it home with a .345 giving Trickshot his 4th X and winning the contest.
Dayton Valley Days was a big success on a such a short notice, and the organizers are already asking us to come back next year.
