The New Ruger Vaquero was introduced in 2005 and replaced the original Vaquero that was designed by Bill Ruger for Cowboy Action Shooting. This version features a hammer and a reduced frame-size to more of an original contour of the Colt SAA. This is a very strong design that a lot of Cowboy Fast Draw shooters prefer. The factory action features a transfer bar, plus when the loading gate is opened it allows the cylinder to spin for loading and unloading, rather than depending on a half-cock position.
